The Tampa Relieves the Ice-Patrol Cutter Modoc: Original Photographic Print
An original, period print of the Coast Guard cutter Tampa, dated 3 May 1926.
This ship was built in 1921, and named it memory of the WWI-era USS Tampa that was lost with all hands in 1918.
Underwood and Underwood press photo, with press label glued to reverse. Approx. 8" x 10". Corner creases, small stain in the upper left (which could easily be covered by the mat when framing).

THE TAMPA RELIEVES ICE-PATROL CUTTER MODOC
AT SEA, NORTH ATLANTIC. -- Photo, made a few days ago, shows The Tampa, U.S. Coastguard cutter which went north recently to relieve the Modoc, on duty for some time in the shipping lanes of the north Atlantic, sending over to the Modoc the ice observer and his two assistants. The men can be distinguished in the small boat at the side of the Tampa. Danger from icenergs is rapidly lessening as warm weather approaches.
